Please review the terms below before booking lessons, road test services, or any other services with First Lake Sackville Driving Academy.
By booking lessons, road test services, Defensive Driving Courses, or any other services with First Lake Sackville Driving Academy, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
General Policies
- All instruction is provided by certified driving instructors in Nova Scotia.
- Lesson times may include pickup, drop-off, and travel time unless otherwise agreed.
- Students are expected to arrive on time and be prepared for lessons.
- Lesson time may be shortened if the student arrives late. Lessons will still end at the originally scheduled time.
- The instructor reserves the right to terminate a lesson immediately if the student demonstrates dangerous, aggressive, abusive, threatening, impaired, or unsafe behavior.
- Smoking, vaping, alcohol, or drug use inside training vehicles is strictly prohibited.
- The school reserves the right to reschedule lessons or road test services due to weather, vehicle issues, emergencies, safety concerns, or unforeseen circumstances.
- Training vehicles may use dash cameras or monitoring devices for safety, insurance, and dispute resolution purposes.
Individual Driving Lessons
Current Rates
- $65/hour (tax included)
- $60/hour for 5+ hour commitment packages (tax included)
Package Commitments
- Discounted package pricing requires a minimum commitment and payment agreement at booking.
- If a discounted package commitment is ended early by the student, completed lessons will be recalculated at regular hourly rates before any remaining balance is refunded.
- Completed lessons are non-refundable.
Scheduling
- Lesson availability depends on instructor schedule and location.
- Evening and weekend appointments may be limited.
- Students must provide availability in advance for scheduling.
Pickup & Drop-Off
- Pickup and drop-off services are offered as a complimentary convenience when available and are not guaranteed.
- Additional travel fees may apply outside standard service areas.

- Dartmouth
- Bedford
- Beaver Bank
- Fall River
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
- A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule any lesson or road test booking.
- Lessons cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice may be charged the full lesson fee.
- No-shows are charged in full.
- Repeated last-minute cancellations may result in refusal of future service.
Refund Policy
- Completed lessons and completed services are non-refundable.
- Refunds only apply to unused lesson time or unused services.
- If a discounted package commitment is broken, completed lessons will be recalculated at regular hourly rates before any remaining balance is refunded.
- Processing fees, platform fees, transaction fees, and card fees are non-refundable.
- Online course access and activated services are non-refundable.
Road Test Services & Vehicle Use
Road Test Packages May Include
- Warm-up/practice session
- Use of instructor vehicle for road test
Please Note
- Pickup and drop-off are not included for road test packages unless otherwise agreed.
Student Responsibilities
Students must provide:
- full legal name,
- exact road test date and time,
- test location,
- and driver's licence information if requested.
- Students are responsible for ensuring they hold a valid licence and arrive prepared for the test.
Incorrect Booking Information
- Students are responsible for providing accurate road test booking information.
- Additional waiting time caused by incorrect or inaccurate booking information may result in additional charges of $50 plus tax per 30 minutes.
Road Test Disclaimer
- Access Nova Scotia examiners conduct the road test.
- First Lake Sackville Driving Academy does not guarantee a passing result.
- The school is not responsible for road test outcomes, examiner decisions, or test cancellations made by Access Nova Scotia.
Vehicle Refusal Policy
The instructor reserves the right to refuse use of the training vehicle if the student:
- drives unsafely,
- violates traffic laws,
- behaves aggressively,
- appears impaired,
- forgets required identification or licence,
- or is otherwise unprepared for the road test.
- No refunds will be issued in these situations.
Vehicle Damage
- Students may be held financially responsible for damages caused through negligence, intentional misuse, reckless driving, accidents, or illegal activity.
Defensive Driving Course Policies
Course Access & Refunds
- Once payment has been completed and online course access has been issued, the Defensive Driving Course becomes completely non-refundable.
- Processing fees, platform fees, transaction fees, and card fees are non-refundable.
Technical Support & Platform Issues
- The Defensive Driving Course is provided through a third-party platform operated by TrubiCars.
While we will try our best to assist students when possible, we are not responsible for:
- technical issues,
- login problems,
- browser/device compatibility,
- internet connection issues,
- platform outages,
- or software-related problems.
- Students may be required to contact TrubiCars support directly for assistance.
Course Completion Responsibility
- Students have up to 90 days to complete the Defensive Driving Course unless otherwise specified.
- Failure to complete the course within the allowed access period may result in expiration of course access.
- Expired courses may require full re-registration and repayment of the full course fee.
- No refunds, extensions, credits, or discounts will be provided for incomplete or expired courses unless approved by management.
Certificate Processing
- Certificates are issued only after all course requirements have been successfully completed and verified.
- Certificate processing may take up to 24 hours after completion.
First Lake Sackville Driving Academy is not responsible for delays caused by:
- incomplete course requirements,
- incorrect student information,
- technical verification delays,
- third-party platform issues,
- or processing requirements.
Student Information Responsibility
Students are responsible for providing accurate:
- legal name,
- email address,
- phone number,
- and registration information.
- Incorrect information may delay course access or certificate delivery.
Communication Policy
Students are responsible for checking:
- email inbox,
- junk/spam folders,
- and text messages for updates and instructions.
Government & Insurance Disclaimer
Completion of the Defensive Driving Course does not guarantee:
- insurance discounts,
- demerit point reductions,
- licence reinstatement,
- court acceptance,
- or government approvals.
- Approval or acceptance of certificates is determined solely by the appropriate insurance provider, employer, court, or government authority.
- Students are responsible for confirming eligibility requirements before enrolling.
Payments
Accepted payment methods may include:
- E-transfer
- Cash
- Debit/Credit Card
- Card payments may be subject to processing/platform fees.
- Payment may be required before booking confirmation, lessons, or course activation.
